Mercedes-Benz AMG GT XX Concept

In a bold leap toward the future of high-performance motoring, Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the CONCEPT AMG GT XX—a revolutionary four-door electric sports car that fuses stunning design, cutting-edge technology, and a powertrain unlike anything seen before in AMG’s 60-year history. Showcasing an entirely new electric architecture developed from the ground up, this concept is not merely a preview—it’s a performance manifesto.

Revolution in Motion: A New Kind of Power

At the heart of the GT XX Concept lies an ultra-advanced all-electric drivetrain, delivering over 1,000 kW (1,360+ hp). It features three axial flux electric motors—a revolutionary technology co-developed with British motor specialists YASA, now a wholly owned Mercedes-Benz subsidiary. These motors are lighter, more compact, and three times as power-dense as conventional radial motors. Each motor is integrated into a high-performance electric drive unit (HP.EDU), with two motors at the rear and one at the front, enabling fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive.

The result? Jaw-dropping performance with sustained acceleration, razor-sharp handling, and unprecedented efficiency for a car of this class. With a top speed of over 360 km/h, it’s a road-legal track weapon with the soul of an electric thoroughbred.

Next-Level Battery Tech from Formula 1

Powering this beast is the High Performance Electric Battery (HP.EB), a completely new development drawing on AMG’s Formula 1 expertise. This 800V unit incorporates cylindrical NCMA-based cells with direct oil cooling, allowing for sustained high performance and thermal stability. It enables rapid charging, delivering up to 400 km of range in just five minutes—a benchmark that brings electric mobility closer to the convenience of conventional refuelling.

Thanks to full-tab battery cell technology, advanced cell chemistry, and intelligent thermal management, the battery maintains high power delivery even under extreme conditions. This ensures continuous peak output during aggressive driving and rapid energy regeneration during recuperation.

Aerodynamics Meets Art

Design isn't an afterthought—it’s central to the GT XX’s philosophy. The exterior channels AMG’s “sensual purity” with a rebellious twist. With a sleek fastback silhouette, sunset beam orange paint, and aerodynamically sculpted surfaces, the GT XX blends sculpture and speed.

At the front, an evolved AMG grille flanked by vertically stacked headlights hints at its racing pedigree. Active aero elements like the AIRPANEL air control system, a full underbody diffuser, and a drag coefficient of just 0.198 ensure stability and efficiency up to its extreme top speed.

A striking highlight: the active aero wheels, a patented world-first innovation. These intelligent wheels adapt on the fly to cool the brakes or improve aerodynamics by adjusting five movable aero blades—powered by self-charging actuators communicating wirelessly via Bluetooth.

Interior: A Minimalist Cockpit of Tomorrow

Step inside, and you're greeted by a stripped-down, motorsport-inspired interior that fuses tech and tactility. Black dominates the cabin, punctuated by orange accents and exposed structural elements. The centre console mimics the AMG coat of arms, illuminated and machined from metal, while recycled GT3 race tyres are reborn as biotech leather alternatives.

Bucket seats are 3D printed for ergonomic precision, using data from body scans. Door handles are crafted from a biotechnological silk alternative, a sustainable yet luxurious touch. Two displays—a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and 14-inch touchscreen—tilt towards the driver in a seamless glass design, controlled via AMG's MBUX operating system.

Light, Sound, and Communication: New Forms of Expression

The GT XX takes interaction to a new level. The MBUX Fluid Light Panel at the rear—an array of 700+ RGB LEDs—displays live data, logos, and charging animations. The headlights double as external speakers, projecting unique driving sounds and alerts for pedestrian safety using the headlight housing as a speaker chamber.

Luminescent paint elements come alive during charging, glowing along the bodywork and visually indicating charging progress. It’s not just performance—it’s theatre.

The Road Ahead

Built on the all-new AMG Electric Architecture (AMG.EA) platform, the CONCEPT AMG GT XX is not a design exercise—it is a technology programme. Many of its innovations—like axial flux motors, AI-enhanced battery cooling, direct oil cell cooling, and intelligent drivetrain software—are already in development for future AMG series-production cars set to launch from 2026.

As Markus Schäfer, CTO of Mercedes-Benz Group, explains:

“The CONCEPT AMG GT XX pushes the boundaries even further and ventures into new ground. It lifts performance and endurance to a completely new level.”

With its uncompromising fusion of electric performance, design emotion, and sustainable innovation, the CONCEPT AMG GT XX doesn’t just point toward the future of Mercedes-AMG—it defines it.
